Are you a Christian?
One of the greatest blessings of life is seeing people come to an assurance that they have eternal life by becoming a Christian.
Becoming a Christian means entering into a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ, embracing the profound transformation He brings into our lives. At its core, the Christian faith begins with recognizing our need for salvation, for all of humanity has been separated from God because of sin (Romans 3:23). This separation can only be reconciled by the work of Jesus Christ, who took the penalty of sin upon Himself and rose again, triumphing over death (Romans 5:8, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
To become a Christian, one must come to God with a repentant heart, confessing and turning from sin. Repentance is not merely sorrow over wrongdoing; it’s a complete change of heart and direction, acknowledging that we need God’s mercy and grace (Acts 3:19). It involves a willing surrender of one’s life to God, trusting fully in Jesus Christ as both Savior and Lord (Romans 10:9-10). This faith is not just intellectual belief but a trusting, wholehearted reliance on Christ’s work on the cross as sufficient for our salvation.
In this new relationship with God, the believer receives the Holy Spirit, who indwells, guides, and empowers them for a life of faithfulness and spiritual growth (Ephesians 1:13-14). This new life means being transformed into the likeness of Christ, growing in holiness and love for God and others. Christianity is not a set of rituals or mere moral guidelines. To be a Christian is to be united to Christ by faith, and to be sustained by God’s grace.
Becoming a Christian is, therefore, about more than just a one-time decision—it is the beginning of a lifelong journey of discipleship, where one learns to follow Christ daily, grows in understanding of the Scriptures, and experiences the joy and peace that come from walking with God. It is, as Jesus said, entering through the narrow gate and following Him on the path that leads to eternal life (Matthew 7:13-14). Through Christ, we are adopted as children of God and gain the hope of eternal life with Him (John 1:12, Titus 3:7). This calling is both a privilege and a commitment, as we live out the gospel in a world in need of His truth and love.
